Elsie Connelly, 100, of Holton
passed away Wednesday, October 22, 2014 at the Silver Oaks Health Campus in Columbus. She was born in the Marble Corner Community southwest of New Marion in what is now the Jefferson Proving Ground on March 1, 1914 the daughter of Benjamin F. and Glenora Adam Dilk. She was married to Russell Connelly on November 30, 1933 and he preceded her in death on October 25, 1970. Survivors include her sister-in-law Ruby Dilk of Columbus; nephews Gary Dilk of Coventry, Connecticut and Jerry Dilk of Phoenix, Arizona; nieces Karen Bowles of Ft. Myers, Florida, Sharron Staab of Oxford, Ohio, and Patty Baston of Hamilton, Ohio. She was also preceded in death by her son Gerald Connelly, and her brothers Dale Dilk and Raymond Dilk. Mrs. Connelly was a former employee of Lemen's Store in Holton as well as the Holton Sundries. Elsie was a 65 year member of the Holton United Methodist Church where she served as the pianist and was church treasurer for over 32 years. She was also a member of the Gideon's Auxiliary and the Indiana Retired Teachers. Graveside services will be held on Monday, October 27
at 11:00am at the Marble Corner Cemetery in Versailles with Rev. Dennis Hadler of the Holton United Methodist Church officiating. Visitation will be Monday from 10:00am to the time of service at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home. Memorials may be given to the Holton United Methodist Church in care of the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles.
