Elsie Tingle, 92, of Benham
passed away Thursday March 3, 2005 at the Jennings
St.Vincent Hospital in North Vernon. She was born at Benham on June 21, 1912 the
daughter of Chancie and Julia Whitaker Gelvin. She was married to Stanley Tingle
on October 14, 1937 and he preceded her in death in 1970. Survivors include one
daughter, Ruth Thornton and her husband Delza of Milan; two sons, Alton Tingle
and Floyd Tingle and his wife Loydene
all of Benham; one granddaughter, six step-grandchildren, and two
great-grandchildren; one brother Troy Gelvin of Dayton and one sister Ramona
Farrell of Versailles.
Besides her
husband she was preceded in death by her parents, son Ralph, grandson Michael
Creigmile, daughter-in-law Bernice Tingle, sisters Dorothy Alexander, Mamie
Elston, and Florence Pettit, and her brother Louis Gelvin. Mrs. Tingle was a
homemaker and a member of the Concord Wesleyan Church. Funeral services will be
held Sunday, March 6
at 2pm at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home
in Versailles with Rev.Wayne Mahoney officiating. Visitation will be Sunday from
12pm until time of services. Burial will be in the Benham Cemetery. Memorials
may be given to the Benham Cemetery in care of the funeral home.
