Emily Marie Mathes

Emily Marie Mathes, 15, of Versailles passed away Tuesday, May 15, 2012 at Children's Hospital in Cincinnati. She was born on February 23, 1997 the daughter of Steve and Beth Fisk Mathes. Survivors include her parents Steve and Beth Mathes of Versailles; sisters Sara and Rachel Mathes of Versailles; paternal grandparents Alfred and Joyce Mathes of Dillsboro; maternal grandparents Paul and Carolyn Fisk of Versailles; uncles Greg (Tracy) Fisk and Jeff (Stephanie) Fisk both of Versailles and Mike (Luann) Mathes of Holton; aunt Jennifer (Mike) Knowlton of Milan. Emily was a member of the Versailles Baptist Church where she participated in the youth group and was also finishing her freshman year at South Ripley High School. Emily participated in volleyball and softball and was a member of the school's French Club and SAAD Chapter. Funeral services will be held Friday, May 18 at 11am with Rev. Rick Burcham and Rev. Mike Cantrell officiating. Burial will be in the Cliff Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 3pm to 8pm at the Family Life Center of the Versailles Baptist Church and also from 10am until time of services Friday at the church. Memorials may be given to the Emily Mathes Scholarship Fund in care of the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home.
