Ernest Jones, 60, of Versailles passed away Wednesday, August 17, 2005 at the Kings Daughters Hospital in Madison. He was born at Barboursville, Kentucky on September 1, 1944 the son of John and Phema Grills Jones. He was married to Sharon Edwards on March 30, 1985 and she survives. Other survivors include one son Darrell Jones of Elrod; one daughter Linda Fox of Versailles; one step-son Timothy Sides and his wife Heather of Versailles; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; two brothers Clofus Jones of Versailles and Grover Jones of Pleasant; four sisters Ethel Mills of Versailles, Hazel Randolph and Bessie Clipp both of Jeffersonville, and Flora Cooper of North Carolina. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Arnold, Otis, Shelby, Clifton, and Garnett Jones and his sisters Effie Day and Thelma Jones. Mr. Jones was a self-employed carpenter and was a member of the Carpenters Local Union at Charlestown. He was a 1962 graduate of Cross Plains High School and was a member of the Osgood Masonic Lodge.
Funeral services will be Saturday, August 20 at 11am at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Rev. Garland Rudd of the Cedar Creek Community Church officiating. Visitation will be Friday, August 19 from 5pm to 8pm with Masonic services at 7:30pm. Burial will be in the Cliff Hill Cemetery in Versailles.
