Ernie Grossman, 75, of Holton
passed away Sunday,
November 23, 2003 at his residence. He was born in the Hopewell community near
Holton on May 29, 1928 the son of Leland "Pete"
and Juanita Burton Grossman. He was married to Betty Hoover on
March 21, 1946 and she survives. Other survivors include two sons, Ronnie
Grossman and his wife Michelle of Holton, Rick Grossman and his wife Emily of
Clay City, Indiana; two daughters, Melody Pugh and her husband Butch of
Shelbyville, and Marcia Loveall and her husband Bill of Sherman, Texas; 10
grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; one sister, Montana Whitson of
Seattle, Washington, and one brother, Andrew Grossman of Holton. He was
preceded in death by his parents and his brother Ray Grossman. Mr. Grossman was
a farmer and had been employed with the Southeastern Indiana REMC for 38 years.
He was a 1945 graduate of Holton High School and attended the Hopewell Baptist
Church. He was president of the Indiana Wagon Train and Outriders Association
and had served for 50 years as a Republican Precinct Committeeman in Otter
Creek Township and had also been honored as a Sagamore of the Wabash. Funeral
services will be held Wednesday, November 26
at 11am at the
Hopewell Baptist Church with Rev. David Shivers officiating. Burial will be in
the Hopewell Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, November 25
from 4pm to 8pm at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles and also
from 10am until time of services Wednesday at the church. Memorials may be
given to the Hopewell
Baptist Church
building fund.
