**Estol M. Werner**, 80, of Milhousen passed away Tuesday, November 13, 2012 at his home. He was born near Cross Plains on March 3, 1932 the son of Herman and Leola Smith Werner. He was married to Maxine Knowlton at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Olean on February 1, 1964 and she preceded him in death on June 13, 2009. Survivors include one sister Esther (Raymond) Geisler of Versailles; two sisters-in-law Marie Werner of Greenfield and Katie Werner of Versailles along with several nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by his parents, and his brothers Herman Jr. (Duke) and Norman. Mr. Werner was an Army veteran of the Korean War where he served at the rank of Sergeant with the 3rd battalion of the 17th Infantry. He received the Korean Service Ribbon with one bronze star, the United Nations Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Combat Infantry Badge, and the Republic of Korea Presidential Unit Citation. He was a former employee of Bruns-Gutzwiller Construction in Batesville where he worked as a bricklayer. Estol was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Olean, the Versailles American Legion, and Laborer's International Union Local 741. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 17 at 12pm at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Pastor Dennis Zimmerman officiating. Burial will be in St. Paul's Cemetery at Olean with military graveside rites by the Versailles American Legion. Visitation will be held Saturday from 10am until time of services. Memorials may be given to St. Paul's Cemetery Fund or St. Paul's Lutheran Church Improvement Fund.
