Ethel Mills, 94, of Versailles passed away at 10pm, Monday, April 6, 2015 at Ripley Crossing in Milan. She was born at Barboursville in Knox County, Kentucky on September 11, 1920 the daughter of John and Phema Grills Jones. She was married to Jeff Mills on January 4, 1940 and he preceded her in death on December 28, 1990. Survivors include one son Delmar (Brenda) Mills of Versailles; three grandchildren Matthew (Angel) Mills of Holton, Malena Hunger of Versailles, and Michelle (Phil) Owens of Brownstown; 6 great-grandchildren; three sisters Bessie Clipp and Hazel Randolph both of Jeffersonville, and Flora Cooper of Greensboro, North Carolina. She was also preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Arnold, Shelby, Ernest, Clofus, Grover, Otis, Clifton, and Garnet Jones, and her sisters Effie Day and Thelma Jones. Mrs. Mills was employed for 27 years with Reliance Electric in Madison where she worked as a coil winder. She had also been employed with the Delaney Wood Heel Factory in Versailles and had worked part time at Ohio Rod in Versailles. She enjoyed sewing and quilting, but was best known in Versailles for her yard and "weedless" flower beds which you could see her working in well past her 90th birthday. Ethel attended the Cedar Creek Community Church. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 11 at 11am at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Pastor Michael Miller officiating. Burial will be in the Cliff Hill Cemetery in Versailles. Visitation will be on Friday from 5pm to 7pm. Memorials may be given to the Cliff Hill Cemetery or the Cedar Creek Community Church in care of the funeral home.
