Eugene Hewitt

Eugene Hewitt, 64, of Madison passed away Thursday, September 9, 2010 at the Veteran's Hospital in Louisville. He was born at Milan on March 24, 1946 the son of Wilford and Mabel Taul Hewitt. Survivors include his mother Mabel Hewitt of Versailles; one son Micah (Angela) Hewitt of Batesville; one daughter Sarah (Ryan) Tekulve of Batesville; five grandchildren; three brothers Howard Hewitt of Crawfordsville and Jerry (Tammy) Hewitt and Dennis (Janet) Hewitt both of Versailles. Mr. Hewitt was a 1964 graduate of Versailles High School and had served in the US Army. He was currently manager at the Key West Shrimp House in Madison and had also completed training to become an ordained minister. Mr. Hewitt was also a licensed cosmetologist and hair stylist having operated shops in Indianapolis, Versailles and Osgood. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September at 11am at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Rev. Richard Burcham officiating. Burial will be in the Indiana Veterans Cemetery at Madison. Visitation will be Tuesday from 9:30am until time of services. Memorials may be given to the Versailles American Legion in care of the funeral home.
