Eva L. Goodpaster, 88, of Versailles passed away Saturday, April 6, 2013 at the Dearborn County Hospital in Lawrenceburg. She was born near Pleasant in Switzerland County on May 4, 1924 the daughter of Chance and Blanche Spencer Steele. She was married to Frank Goodpaster on April 21, 1942 and he preceded her in death on September 5, 1989. Survivors include three sons Frank (Paula) Goodpaster of Napoleon, Keith Goodpaster of Versailles, and Randy (Penny) Goodpaster of Greensburg; one daughter Debbie (Don) Vogeler of Versailles; 7 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren; one brother Sam Steele of Little Rock, Arkansas. She was also preceded in death by her parents, her son Richard, her daughter Nancy, and her sisters Agnes Lovins and Jenola Marsh. Mrs. Goodpaster was employed with US Shoe in Osgood for 17 years. She had also been employed with Civil Service and during WWII she worked at Kemper-Thomas in Norwood, Ohio where she inspected gas masks used during the war. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 10th at 2pm at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Rev. Roger Dean officiating. Burial will be in the Pleasant Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 6pm to 8pm. Memorials may be given to Rescue 69 in care of the funeral home.
