Evelyn R. Gray

Evelyn R. Gray, 85, of Olean passed away Friday, January 13, 2006 at the Dearborn County Hospital in Lawrenceburg. She was born near Friendship on April 1, 1920 the daughter of Noel and Ruth Liggett Lane. She was married to Gilbert Gray on October 23, 1935 and he preceded her in death on September 21, 1989. Survivors include four sons, Glen Gray of Lawrenceburg, Robert Gray and his wife Linda of Versailles, John Gray of Osgood, and Ronnie Gray and his wife Linda of Farmers Retreat; three daughters, Wanda Hooton and her husband Duane of Leigh Acres, Florida, Janice Linkmeyer and her husband Wayne of Versailles, and Hope Gray of Olean; 27 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren, four nieces, one nephew, and several cousins. Besides her husband she was preceded in death by her parents, her sons Gary and Gene Gray, and her grandsons Brian Gray, Kenny Simmons, and Randall Wayne Scott and one brother and one sister. Mrs. Gray was a homemaker and had worked with her husband at the Ripley County Farm Bureau mill at Cross Plains. She was a member of the Bear Creek Baptist Church in Friendship and was also a member of the Friendship Social Circle. She was also a former leader for the Friendly 4-Her's club in Brown Township. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 18 at 11am at the Bear Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Sherman Hughes and Rev. Irmal Elliott officiating. Burial will be in the Cliff Hill Cemetery in Versailles. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4pm to 8pm at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles and from 10am until time of services Wednesday at the church.
