Evelyn Hughes, 94, of Correct passed away Tuesday, March 1, 2005 at Ripley Crossing in Milan. She was born at Rexville on February 23, 1911 the daughter of Taylor and Daisy Noyes Brinson. She was married to J. Marion Hughes on November 14, 1930 and he preceded her in death on March 8, 2002. Survivors include two sons, William Hughes and his wife Wilma of Correct and Wayne Hughes and his wife Rosemarie of Monument, Colorado; two grandchildren, William J. Hughes and his wife Dale of Noblesville and Dianna Swinney and her husband Fred of New Marion; four great-grandchildren, Ryan Hughes, Jon Hughes, J. D. Swinney, and Adam Swinney; a cousin Alta Hall and her husband Art of Fort Wayne.
Mrs. Hughes was a 1929 graduate of New Marion High School and was a 53 year member of the Versailles Baptist Church. She was also a homemaker and was employed as an attendant at Muscatatuck for 14 years retiring in 1976. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 5 at 11am at the Versailles Baptist Church with Rev. Mark Walker officiating. Visitation will be Friday, March 4 from 5pm to 8pm at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles. Burial will be in the Cliff Hill Cemetery in Versailles. Memorials may be given to the Versailles Baptist Church or Ripley Crossing in care of the funeral home.
