Evelyn A. Menchhofer, 88, of Osgood passed away Monday, November 10, 2008 at the Margaret Mary Hospital in Batesville. She was born at Seymour on February 28, 1920 the daughter of Charles and Ethel Bare Parker. She was married to Floyd Menchhofer on March 23, 1941 and he survives. Other survivors include one son William (Emma) Menchhofer of Osgood; five grandchildren, Tom (Melissa) Menchhofer of Holton, Tammy (Randall) Miller of Versailles, Teresa (Alan) Kramer, Tina (Marvin) Kramer, and Todd (Sharon) Menchhofer all of Greensburg; 12 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Carolyn (Burton) Rodman of Florida and Marilyn (Roger) Christenson of Colorado. She was preceded in death by her parents and her half-sister Blanche.
Mrs. Menchhofer was a 1939 graduate of Osgood High School and was a member of the Tanglewood Baptist Church. She was formerly employed with Banner's 5 & 10, Walt's Hardware, Vollmer's Dairy Way, and the Ripley County Farm Bureau, all in Osgood.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 13 at 11am at the Tanglewood Baptist Church with Rev. Russell Stephens officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5pm to 8pm at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles and from 10am until time of services Thursday at the church. Memorials may be given to the Tanglewood Cemetery in care of the funeral home.
