Evelyn Smith

Evelyn Smith, 94, of Versailles, died Sunday, June 26, 2005 at Hickory Creek Nursing Home, Madison. She was born March 11, 1911 in Benham, the daughter of Charles and Dora (McCoy) Ehlers, both deceased. She married Chancey Smith on October 21, 1937 and he preceded her in death on July 9, 1960. Survivors include two sons, Lamar and Mary Buchanan Smith of Versailles, Dennis and Barbara Smith of Madison; three grandchildren and four great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Jean McLean on May 20, 1996 and one brother Gilmore and one sister, Helen Smith. She was a homemaker and a member of the Benham United Methodist Church and the Correct Homemakers Club. Visitation will be held Thursday, June 30, 9-11 a.m. at the Benham United Methodist Church. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in the Benham Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Benham Cemetery or the Versailles Volunteer Fire Department.
