**Everett J. Thompson**, 86, of Versailles passed away at 1:50am, Tuesday, December 22, 2020 at the Aspen Health Campus in Greensburg. He was born near Milan on October 19, 1934 the son of Clyde and Dorothy Bohner Thompson. He was married to Melba Aikins on June 11, 1955 and his wife of 65 years survives. Other survivors include one son Kevin (Kay McCammon) Thompson of Versailles; one daughter Connie (Jon) Martin of Greensburg; four grandchildren Mandy (Micah) Lohrum of Greensburg, Amber (Terry) Jessee of Lawrenceburg, Andrew Martin of Greensburg, and JoBeth Martin of Cincinnati; five great-grandchildren; one brother Ralph (Janet) Thompson of North Vernon. He was preceded in death by his parents. Mr. Thompson was a 1952 graduate of Osgood High School. On July 11, 1957 he was inducted into the US Army and served with the Infantry as an SP4. He was discharged on June 30, 1959 and for service to his country Everett received the Good Conduct Medal. In civilian life he worked for 40 years as the office manager for the Southeastern Indiana REMC in Osgood. For 34 straight years Everett and friends made the trip to Lake of the Woods in Canada for fishing, sometimes veering south to Florida. He was best known in the community as the sponsor for the Jackson A. Raney DeMolay chapter which he founded in the early 70s. Everett was a member of the Tanglewood Baptist Church where he served in many capacities. He was also a 64 year member of the Versailles Masonic Lodge and had been a member of the Eastern Star for over 50 years.
