Fern L. Strimple, 89, of Osgood passed away Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at Willow Crossing in Columbus. She was born near Milan on May 23, 1923 the daughter of Charles and Edith Irene White Demaree. She was married to Norman Strimple in 1945 and he preceded her in death on August 22, 1987. Survivors include one daughter Bobbie Fellerman of Columbus; one son Wix Strimple of Braden, Florida; grandsons Marcus (Tanya) Strimple of Madison, Wisconsin, Matthew (Emily) Strimple of Fort Wayne, and Ethan Strimple of Muncie; one brother Jack (Betty) Demaree of Versailles; two sisters Vivian (Fred) Storie of Madison and Norma Lee Meacham of Rantoul, Illinois. She was preceded in death by her parents, her son Charles Michael Strimple, her brothers Charles (Sonny) Demaree and Edward Demaree, and her sisters Faye Sloan and Edna Horton. Mrs. Strimple was a 1941 graduate of Versailles High School. She was a former employee of the Osgood Dry Cleaners and also G. A. Tripletts Pharmacy in Osgood. Fern was a member of the Tanglewood Baptist Church and had served as Cub Scout Den Mother. Funeral services will be held Sunday, January 27 at 2pm at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Rev. Don Buck officiating. Burial will be in the Cliff Hill Cemetery at Versailles. Visitation will be Sunday from 12:30pm until time of services. Memorials may be given to the Cliff Hill Cemetery or the Hospice of South Central Indiana in care of the funeral home.
