Firth A. Shelpman, 71, of Versailles passed away Saturday, May 3, 2008 at the Christ Hospital in Cincinnati. He was born near Versailles on February 22, 1937 and grew up in the home of Lee and Mary Ann Firth Strubbe. He was married to Karla Naegele on November 26, 1971 and she survives. Other survivors include one son Fred (Ann) Shelpman of Cross Plains; one daughter, Dawndalyn (Robert) Stmichael of Hayes, Virginia; eight grandchildren. Mr. Shelpman was a 1956 graduate of Versailles High School. He had worked as a meat cutter in the Purdum grocery store in Versailles and also at Braley's Clover Leaf Store. He retired from the Teamsters as a truck driver hauling heavy equipment. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 7 at 11am at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4pm to 8pm. Memorials may be given to F.A.M.E. or the Ronald McDonald House in care of the funeral home.
