Florence R. Cardinal, 91, of Versailles passed away Wednesday, September 3, 2008 at her home. She was born near Benham on October 6, 1916 the daughter of Charles and Julia Mathews Meisberger. She was married to Dale Cardinal on February 18, 1938 and he preceded her in death on December 27, 1991. Survivors include two sons, James (Aileen) Cardinal of Versailles and Ronald (Brenda) Cardinal of Deputy; three daughters, Wanda (Ben) Adams of Indianapolis, Leslie Elaine Rouquet of Versailles, and Janet (Dennis) Richardson of Pierceville; 18 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren, and 11 great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Opal Day of Versailles and Millie (Damon) Webster of Cross Plains; one sister-in-law Gertrude Meisberger of New Marion. She was preceded in death by her parents, her son Harold Keith Cardinal, son-in-law Denny Rouquet, and her brothers Rom, Charles, and Howard Meisberger. Mrs. Cardinal was a cook at Lake Dilldear and had also managed Tom's 50-50 grill at the Wye at Versailles. She was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church at Versailles and enjoyed fishing, quilting, and crocheting. Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 6 at 10:30am at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Rev. Garland Rudd officiating. Burial will be in the Benham Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 5pm to 8pm. Memorials may be given to the Benham Cemetery in care of the funeral home.
