Frances M. Lohrum, 74, of Versailles, passed away Saturday, March 28, 2009 at the Dearborn County Hospital. She was born at Aurora on May 22, 1934 the daughter of Carl and Anna Brandon Hankins. She was married to John Lohrum on June 20, 1951 and he preceded her in death on February 20, 2008.
Survivors include two sons, Ronnie (Linda) Lohrum and Johnnie (Helen) Lohrum both of Osgood; two daughters, Nina May (Ron) McGill of Montgomery and Rebecca Ann (Doug) Hisel of Lexington, Kentucky; 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; one brother Carl Hankins of Dillsboro and one sister Falba Bray of Alabama. She was preceded in death by her sisters Bertha Seavers, Clara Belle Stonebreaker, and Martha Huffer.
Mrs. Lohrum was a homemaker and a member of the First Southern Baptist Church of Versailles. She was a published author having written the book "And Again We Were Two." She had also written poetry and gospel music and had been a member of the Family Tree Gospel Singers and had tried out to sing on the old Midwestern Hayride. She also operated Ceramics by Fran and had constructed doll houses and small barns with her husband.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 1 at 10:30am at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Rev. Carter Corbrey officiating. Burial will be in the Grandview Memorial Garden near Madison. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5pm to 8pm at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles. Memorials may be given to the food pantry of the Hopewell Baptist Church in care of the funeral home.
