Genieve I. (Jenny) Young, 78, of Napoleon passed away Friday, January 23, 2008 at the Margaret Mary Community Hospital in Batesville. She was born near Dillsboro on September 27, 1930 the daughter of Harley and Louella Heath Utter. She was married to Syalvester (Wes) Young on March 31, 1951 and he survives. Other survivors include one son Roger (Deanna) Young of Napoleon; two daughters Cindy Toops and Pam Young both of Napoleon; 3 granddaughters, Kimberly (Travis) Sullivan, Kiersten and Morgan Young; one great-grandson Kaleb Sullivan; five brothers, Norman (Phyllis) Utter and Steve (Kathy) Utter both of Dillsboro, Jim (Phyllis) Utter of Versailles, John (Marie) Utter of Tennessee, and Jerry (Cloveta) Utter of Kentucky; two sisters Sharline Field and Mary (Charles) Decker both of Arizona. She was preceded in death by her parents, her son Donald, her son-in-law David Toops, her brother Harley Wayne Utter, and her sister Nellie Hehe. Mrs. Young was a 1948 graduate of Dillsboro High School. She was a former sales clerk for the JC Murphy Company in Greensburg and had worked as a cook at the Napoleon and Jac-Cen-Del Schools. Funeral services will be Monday, January 26 at 11am at the Napoleon United Methodist Church with Pastor LaJo Dunbar officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery in Napoleon. Visitation will be Sunday from 3pm to 8pm at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles and from 10am until time of services Monday at the church. Memorials may be given to the Jac-Cen-Del Relay for Life or the Napoleon United Methodist Church in care of the funeral home.
