George L. Rohrig, 81, of Osgood passed away Monday, September 17, 2012 at the Manderley Health Care Center in Osgood. He was born at Norwood, Ohio on November 4, 1930 the son of John T. and Mayme Fisk Rohrig. He was married to Sharon Foster on March 22, 1963 and she preceded him in death on December 2, 2008. Survivors include three sons George Rohrig, Jr. and companion Margaret of Osgood, Fred (Linda) Rohrig of Pierceville, and Sammy Dean Rohrig of Lakeland, Florida; five daughters Carolyn Sue (Jerry) Ellis of Dover, Florida, Rolena Newman and friend Ed of Huntingburg, Georgia Albury of Riverview, Florida, Sherri Higgins of Oklahoma, and Cindy Parker of Lakeland, Florida; 19 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren; three sisters Loraine Manning of Bright, Posey (Bob) Lauber of Sunman, and Millie Edmondson of Tucson, Arizona. He was also preceded in death by his parents, sister Alberta Roy, brothers Jim Rohrig, Johnny Rohrig, and Roy Rohrig, his step-mother Alma Rohrig, and his great-grandson John Austin Rohrig. Mr. Rohrig was a retired truck mechanic and had been a truck driver for Bush Trucking in Lakeland, Florida. George was a member of the Holton Christian Church. Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 20 at 11am at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Rev. Bob McCreary of the Holton Christian Church officiating. Burial will be in the New Marion Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 9:30am until time of services. Memorials may be given to the Holton Christian Church or the New Marion Cemetery in care of the funeral home.
