Gerald D. Williams, 74, of Holton passed away Thursday, October 11, 2012 at St. Francis Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born in the Flat Rock community near Osgood on February 24, 1938 the son of Glenn and Martha Rayburn Williams. He was married to Carolyn Schlotman on September 12, 1954 and she survives. Other survivors include three sons Mark (Jana) Williams of Edinburg, Steve (Beth) Williams of Nashville, Tennessee, and Andy (Theresa) Williams of Greensburg; two daughters Beth Hewitt of Batesville and Lisa (Denny) Granger of Columbus; 18 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; one brother Milford (Carol) Williams of Bennington; two sisters Beverly (Chuck) Newlin of Osgood, and Carolyn (John) Newlin of Lafayette. He was preceded in death by his parents and his daughter Sue Rice.
Mr. Williams was a graduate of Holton High School. He was a 30 year employee of Cummins Engine in Columbus retiring in 1997 and had worked until 2010 at Gecom in Greensburg. Gerald was a member of the Union Flat Rock Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 16 at 11am at the Union Flat Rock Baptist Church with Bro. Malvin McCullough officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 5pm to 8pm at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles and from 10am until time of services Tuesday at the church. Memorials may be given to Rescue 69 in care of the funeral home.
