Gertie Francis

**Gertie Francis, 83, of Osgood** passed away Monday, August 12, 2013 at the Manderley Health Care Center in Osgood. She was born near Shelbyville on August 14, 1929 the daughter of Benjamin and Geneva Rich Dunbar. She was married to Hubert (Huck) Francis on July 18, 1948 and he survives. Other survivors include four daughters Gail (John) Bosley of Raleigh, North Carolina, Diana (Dan) Rimstidt of Loveland, Ohio, Cheryl (Ronald) Elff of Fishers, and Joy (Rich) Clark of St. Johns, Florida; five grandchildren Tiffany (Shannon) Dillmore of Raleigh, North Carolina, Devin Elff, Bryce Elff, and Jeremy Clark all of Fishers, and Alex Clark St. Johns, Florida; one great-grandson Brogan Dillmore. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother John Dunbar. Mrs. Francis was a 1946 graduate of Osgood High School and also graduated from the Indiana Business College in Indianapolis. She worked for the Southeastern Indiana REMC in Osgood from 1948 to 1951 and then became a full time homemaker and did seamstress work from her home. Gertie was a member of the Osgood United Methodist Church. Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 16 at 10:30am at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Rev. Jenny Hizer officiating. Burial will be in the Mud Pike Cemetery near Osgood. Visitation will be Thursday from 5pm to 8pm. Memorials may be given to the Alzheimer's Association or the Osgood United Methodist Church in care of the funeral home.
