Gertrude Thurman

Gertrude Thurman, 90, of Cincinnati passed away Friday, February 20, 2009 at the Mount Washington Care Center in Cincinnati. She was born at Irvin in Lee County, Kentucky on October 2, 1918 the daughter of Matt and Nettie Smith Hamilton. She was married to Chester Thurman on June 10, 1972 and he preceded her in death on July 21, 1996. Survivors include three brothers, Bill, Glen, and Kenneth Hamilton all of Lexington, Kentucky; one sister Martha Freeman also of Lexington, along with many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Thurman was a member of the Forestville Baptist Church in Cincinnati. She was a former hostess for Hudson's Department Store. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 24 at 11am at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles. Burial will be in the Washington Cemetery at Elrod. Visitation will be Tuesday from 10am until time of services. Memorials may be given to the Washington Cemetery in care of the funeral home.
