Gladys Steele Palmer

Gladys Steele Palmer, 82, of Osgood, Indiana passed away Thursday, May 8, 2008 at the Waters of Ross Manor in Dillsboro. She was born at Osgood on June 26, 1925, the daughter of Clyde and Bertha Rose Webster. She was married to Albert Steele and he preceded her in death on July 11, 1987. She was married to Sylvanus Palmer in 1996 and he survives. Other survivors include five sons, Ralph (Charlotte) Steele of Fairland, Leigh (Cheryl) Steele of Versailles, Glenn (Brenda) Steele of Versailles, Norman Steele of Stanford, North Carolina, and Terry Steele of Indianapolis; one daughter Sandy (Paul) Clayton of Holton; one step-daughter Betty Culp of Oregon City, Oregon; 12 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren; one brother Earl Beach of Midway, Ohio; one sister Esther Delay of Columbus. She was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter-in-law Jean, grandson Jeff Steele, and great-grandson Rion Dale Steele. Mrs. Palmer was a member of the Versailles Church of Christ. She was a former employee of US Shoe in Osgood and retired in 1988 after 18 years as dietician at the Muscatatuck State Developmental Center. Funeral services will be held Monday, May 12 at 10:30am at the Versailles Church of Christ with Dale Day officiating. Burial will be in the Grandview Memorial Garden near Madison. Visitation will be Sunday from 3pm to 6pm at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles and from 9:30 until time of services Monday at the church. Memorials may be given to the Versailles Church of Christ in care of the funeral home.
