Grace M. Landes

Grace M. Landes, 94, of Osgood passed away Sunday, February 8, 2009 at the Manderley Health Care Center in Osgood. She was born at Otter Village in Center Township on May 10, 1914 the daughter of John and Maud Huntington Stork. She was married to Roy Landes on April 15, 1934 and he preceded her in death on April 8, 1950. Survivors include one daughter Patricia (Pat) Thomas of Osgood; two grandchildren Roy (Jan) Thomas and Karen (Tim) Wilburn both of Osgood; great-grandchildren Niki Wilburn, Paige and Riley Thomas; one great-great grandson Brady Alcorn; two sisters Ruby (Raymond) Reibel and Virginia Miller both of Osgood. She was preceded in death by her parents, her son-in-law William Thomas, her brother John Stork, and her sisters Mildred Stork, Elizabeth Stork, and Mary Smith. Mrs. Landes was a 1932 graduate of Osgood High School and a member of the Osgood United Methodist Church. She had been employed with Diem's Osgood Frozen Foods and also with Rice's Grocery in Osgood. She retired in 1983 to provide care for her great grandchildren which she did until 2008. Mrs. Landes had worked on the election board in Center Township for 13 presidential elections, her last being in 2004. She was also a faithful supporter of Jac-Cen-Del basketball and attended games until the last few years. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 10 at 1pm at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Dale Day of the Versailles Church of Christ officiating. Burial will be in the Greendale Cemetery at Osgood. Visitation will be Tuesday from 10am until time of services. Memorials may be given to the Greendale Cemetery.
