Gus Brashear

**Gus Brashear**, 76, of Dabney passed away Friday, January 25, 2013 at the Waters of Batesville. He was born in Hazard, Kentucky on January 19, 1937 the son of Finley and Bessie Morris Brashear. He was married to Carol Mechler on February 9, 1957 and she survives. Other survivors include one son Russell Brashear of Dabney; one daughter Kim Whaley of Cincinnati; 5 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his son and daughter-in-law Gus Jr. and Cindy Brashear, his sisters Irene Baker and Wanda Bentley, and his brothers Dana, Hoyt, and Victor Brashear. Mr. Brashear was a former resident of Cincinnati where he worked as a machinist with the Cincinnati Enquirer. Gus was an ace mechanic and enjoyed his garden and working on his farm. Funeral services will be held Monday, January 28 at 2pm at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with burial in the Dabney Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday at 1pm until time of services. Memorials may be given to Recycled Doggies of Cincinnati in care of the funeral home.
