Harold (Dude) Comer, 93, of Holton passed away Tuesday, March 31, 2009 at the Manderley Health Care Center in Osgood. He was born near Osgood on September 17, 1915 the son of John and Elizabeth Straber Comer. He was married to Evelyn D. Smith on June 1, 1946 and she preceded him in death on May 17, 2001. Survivors include three sons, Lynn (Charlotte) Comer of Holton, Kelvin (Cindy) Comer, and Steve (Linda) Comer both of Osgood; one daughter, Sandra (Nelson) Bowlus of Osgood; 11 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren; one sister Winona Hubbard of Chambersburg, Pennsylvania. He was also preceded in death by his parents, and his brothers Kermit, John, and Kenneth Comer. Mr. Comer was a 1933 graduate of Osgood High School and had farmed in the Osgood and Holton communities his entire life. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church at Napoleon and also a member of the Ripley County Farm Bureau. He was also active at the Senior Center in Versailles. Funeral services will be held Friday, April 3 at 11am at St. John's Lutheran Church in Napoleon with Pastor Gary Groth officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 4pm to 8pm at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles and from 10am until time of services Friday at the church.
