Helen Davies

Helen Davies, 82, of Olean passed away Saturday, September 30, 2006 at Jennings Health Care in North Vernon. She was born at Farmers Retreat on December 5, 1923 the daughter of William and Jane Mitz Stamper. She was married to Dale Davies on August 16, 1941 and he preceded her in death on September 28, 1994. Survivors include two sons, William Davies and his wife Martha of Scipio, and Richard Davies and his wife Sandy of Milan; one daughter, Jean Ann McClure and her husband Victor of LaPorte, Texas; 6 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild; one sister Eunice Stegemoller of Olean. Besides her husband she was preceded in death by her parents, three infant brothers, her sisters Ila Dennis and Thelma Bruce, grandson Jeff McNicholas, and one great-great granddaughter. Mrs. Davies was a 1941 graduate of Dillsboro High School and was a member of the Bear Creek Baptist Church in Friendship. She and her husband operated a TV and electronics store in Versailles and Olean for several years. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 10am at the Bear Creek Baptist Church in Friendship with Rev. Sherman Hughes officiating. Burial will be in St. Peter's Cemetery at Olean. Visitation will be Tuesday, October 3 from 5pm to 7pm at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles and from 9am until time of services Wednesday at the church. Memorials may be given to the donors choice.
