Henry F. Sieverding

**Henry F. Sieverding**, 91, of Farmers Retreat passed away at 6:45 p.m., Monday, September 30, 2024 at St. Andrews Health Campus in Batesville. He was born in Damme, Germany on April 21, 1933 the son of Bernard and Maria Wernke Sieverding. He was married to Thelma Ruth Macke on May 9, 1959 and she preceded him in death on November 10, 2017. Survivors include three sons Keith (Beth) Sieverding of Dewberry, Bernard (Karen) Sieverding of Versailles, and Michael (fiancé Kristen Hughes) Sieverding of Millhousen; three daughters Maria Sieverding and Teresa Meyer of Farmers Retreat, and Ann (Brian) Vogel of Versailles; son-in-law Mark Kieffer of Friendship; 12 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren; three brothers Bernard (Margret) Sieverding of Harsewinkel, Germany, and Antonis and Josef (Hedwig) Sieverding both of Damme, Germany. He was also preceded in death by his parents, his daughters Ruth Kieffer and Diane Sieverding, his son Frances Sieverding, his grandson Jacob Vogel, and his sister Mia Manthey. Mr. Sieverding worked on local farms near his home in Damme after WWII and departed for the United States on June 30, 1952 at the age of 19. He proudly became an American Citizen on August 25, 1958. In America, he worked in Cincinnati at French Bauer Cedar Hill Farms and then drove a truck for the Castellini Company until his retirement. Henry enjoyed raising a large garden, watching European and German soccer, and being with his family. He was a member of the St. Gertrude the Great Catholic Church in West Chester, Ohio and belonged to the German Kolping Society. Requiem Mass will be at 11:25 a.m. on Tuesday, October 8 at St. Gertrude the Great Catholic Church, 4900 Rialto Rd in West Chester, Ohio with Bishop Charles McGuire officiating. Rosary services will begin at 11 a.m. Graveside services will be at the Craven Cemetery in Milan on Tuesday at 2 p.m. Visitation will be on Monday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles. Memorials may be given to the Friendship or Versailles Fire Departments.
