Herbert Ruggles

Herbert Ruggles, 91, of Osgood, formerly of Versailles, passed away Monday, February 27, 2012 at St. Andrews Health Campus in Batesville. He was born at Pierceville on September 20, 1920 the son of Chris and Ola Manley Ruggles. He was married to Ann Fryer on August 26, 1944 and she preceded him in death on September 21, 2005. Survivors include two sons Virgil (Carol) Ruggles of Osgood and Donald (Carol) Ruggles of Lincoln City; two daughters Kathy Ruggles of Avon and Janie (Willie) Grigsby of Versailles; 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; two brothers Earl (Laverne) Ruggles and Ralph (Ruth Ann) Ruggles both of Milan. He was also preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Leroy and Newell Ruggles, and his sister Edith Eaglin. Mr. Ruggles was a former employee of Marble Hill and was also a self-employed carpenter. He was a 40 year member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America. Herbert was also a member of the Cedar Creek Community Church. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 29 at 1pm at the Cedar Creek Community Church with Rev. Garland Rudd officiating. Burial will be in the Cliff Hill Cemetery in Versailles. Visitation will be from 11am until time of services Wednesday at the church. Memorials may be given to the Cliff Hill Cemetery or the Cedar Creek Church in care of the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home.
