Herschel Adams, 65, of Versailles, formerly of Osgood, passed away Monday, June 28, 2004 at the Margaret Mary Community Hospital in Batesville. He was born in London, Kentucky on November 26, 1938 the son of Bev and Sally Powers Adams. He was married to Teresa Jane Kemker and she survives.
Other survivors include two sons, Kevin Adams and his wife Gina of Concord, North Carolina and Alan Adams of Florida; one daughter Phyllis Holman of Versailles; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Ray Adams of Versailles and Ben Adams of Indianapolis. He was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers, John, Alvin, Jim, Earl, Alfred, and Chester Adams and three sisters, Gretha Webb, Dorothy and Flora Adams.
Mr. Adams was a 1958 graduate of New Marion High School and had been employed with Church Brothers Body Shop in Indianapolis for 32 years. He also owned and operated Adams Seal Coating and had done substitute teaching at South Ripley High School. He was a member of the Suburban Baptist Church in Greenwood and attended the Dabney Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 1 at 10am at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Rev. Charles Cole of the Dabney Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in the Dabney Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, June 30 from 6pm to 8pm. Memorials may be given to the donor's choice.
