Hertha M. Jones

Hertha M. Jones, 83, of Osgood, formerly of Holton, passed away Wednesday, January 7, 2009 at the home of her daughter near Elrod. She was born in the Flat Rock community near Osgood on August 23, 1925 the daughter of Lester and Daisy Hull Tucker. She was married to Cletus Jones on December 8, 1946 and he preceded her in death on July 31, 2003. Survivors include three sons, Stephen (Joan) Jones of Cincinnati, David Jones of Cincinnati, and Dan (Patty) Jones of Hope; four daughters, Jenny Sample of Columbus, Tina Buchanan of Versailles, Cynthia (Lou) Pike of Elrod, and Daisy Jones of Holton; 15 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren; one brother Ray (Marian) Tucker of Holton; two sisters Bonnie (Ed) Smith of Salem, Illinois and Joan (Norris) Krall of Osgood. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Beulah Adams, and her brother Lee Tucker. Mrs. Jones was a 1943 graduate of Holton High School and was a member of St. John's Catholic Church in Osgood. She was a homemaker and had cared for many handicapped children in her home over the years. Funeral services will be Saturday, January 10 at 2pm at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Fr. Shaun Whittington officiating. Burial will be in the Flat Rock Cemetery near Osgood. Memorials may be given to the cemetery in care of the funeral home.
