Howard J. Lustig, 86, of Versailles, formerly of Clarksville, passed away Tuesday, December 18, 2007 at the Manderley Health Care Center in Osgood. He was born near Osgood on March 14, 1921 the son of Frederick and Bertha May Wheeler Lustig. He was married to Hilda Salyers on June 21, 1943 and she survives. Other survivors include one sister, Mrs. Leona Wagner of Osgood, and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his son John, and his brother Lawrence Lustig.
Mr. Lustig was an Army veteran of WWII. He served in the 880 Air Squadron as a Special Vehicle Operator. He received the American Theatre Ribbon, Victory Medal, and the Good Conduct Medal. He was a member of the Charity Baptist Church at Clarksville. He had been involved in the trucking business for several years, hauling logs for Hyatt's Sawmill at Holton and being a terminal manager for Good Way Trucking at Clarksville. He also had been employed with Cunningham Campers at Jeffersonville.
Funeral services will be held Friday, December 21 at 11am at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Dale Day of the Versailles Church of Christ officiating. Burial will be in the Holton Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 10am until time of services. Memorials may be given to the Holton Cemetery in care of the funeral home.
