Ida Lucille Franklin, 83, of Osgood passed away Monday, April 18, 2005 at the Manderley Health Care Center in Osgood. She was born near Deleware on May 7, 1921 the daughter of Joseph and Lilly May Shorten Volz. She was married to James Franklin on June 12, 1938 and he preceded her in death on December 11, 2004.
Survivors include one daughter, Joyce Miller and her husband Ralph of Deleware; five grandchildren, Jim Miller and his wife Bonnie, Jon Miller and Sharon all of Holton, Sheri Deaton of Vevay, Merri Price of Batesville, and Terri Stein and her husband Michael of Cincinnati along with 16 great-grandchildren. Besides her husband she was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Roy Volz and her sister Thelma Steinfort.
Mrs. Franklin attended Osgood High School and was employed with the Southeastern Indiana REMC in Osgood, retiring in 1985. She was a member of the Osgood United Methodist Church.
Funeral services will be held Friday, April 22 at 11am at the Osgood United Methodist Church with Rev. Robert Rixman and Rev. Maxine Rixman officiating. Burial will be in the Cliff Hill Cemetery in Versailles. Visitation will be Thursday, April from 5pm to 8pm at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles. Memorials may be given to the Osgood United Methodist Church in care of the funeral home.
