Ida M. Franklin

Ida M. Franklin, 92, of the Hopewell community died Friday, February 25, 2005 at the Manderley Health Care Center in Osgood. She was born near Dabney on April 30, 1912 the daughter of Abraham and Maude Jenkins Barricklow. She was married to Floyd Franklin on January 28, 1931 and he preceded her in death on September 20, 1990. Survivors include four sons, Allen Franklin and his wife Louella, Gene Franklin and his wife Shirley, and Frank Franklin and his wife Myrtie all of Holton and Ben Franklin and his wife Henrietta of Versailles; three daughters, Leota Conover of Holton, Eva Mae Wagoner and her husband Chalres of Lake Placid, Florida, and Rowena Sanders and her husband Robert of Murray, Kentucky; 28 grandchildren, 52 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren. Besides her husband she was preceded in death by her parents, son-in-law Egbert Conover, granddaughter Lisa Franklin, ten brothers Ben, Henry, John, Joe, Louis, George, Cecil, Jim, Forest, and Tom Barricklow; sisters Marjorie Burns, Daisy Williams, and Althea Pickett. Mrs. Franklin attended the Dabney School and was a 1930 graduate of Holton High School. She was a member of the Dabney Baptist Church and attended the Hopewell Baptist Church. Mrs. Franklin had worked at Muscatatuck and also had worked as a cook at the Holton School. Funeral services will be held Monday, February 28 at 1pm at the Hopewell Baptist Church with Rev. David Shivers officiating. Visitation will be Sunday, February from 3pm to 7pm at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles. Memorials may be given to the Hopewell Baptist Church or the Holton Fire Department in care of the funeral home.
