Inez H. Alexander, 90, of Columbus passed away Friday, January 13, 2006 at the Hospice of South Central Indiana in Columbus. She was born in the Malotte neighborhood near Versailles on March 18, 1915 the daughter of Jacob and Mary Ann Alfrey Snedaker. She was married to John G. Alexander and he preceded her in death in 1995. Survivors include one daughter Maryann Traut of Columbus; grandsons Gregory L. Brodnik and his wife Carrie of Greenwood and Terrence Brodnik of Indianapolis; two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son Dr. John J. Alexander, sisters Virginia May and Emily Ruth Herrick and her brother Harold Snedaker. Mrs. Alexander was a 1932 graduate of New Marion High School and a 1933 graduate of Central Normal Teachers College in Danville. She later received her bachelor's degree from Butler University. She had taught school in New Marion and ended her teaching career in the Wayne Township School District in Indianapolis. Funeral services will be held Monday, January 16 at 3pm at the Shelby Christian Church near Versailles. Visitation will be from 2pm until time of services at the church. Memorials may be given to the Shelby Cemetery or the Hospice of South Central Indiana in care of the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles.
