Irene Louise Schwanholt,
87, of Cross Plains passed away Friday January 24 at the Dillsboro Manor. She was born near Cross Plains on May 4, 1915, the daughter of William and Lena Meier Neahousmeyer. She was married to Walter Schwanholt on September 1, 1945 and he survives. Other survivors include her daughters, Carolyn Wehmeyer and her husband Danny of New Smyrna Beach, Florida, and Mary Katherine Dickerson and her husband Charles B. of Florence, Indiana; two grandchildren, Heather Schott of McDonough, Georgia and Joe Wehmeyer of Brooklyn, New York; one great-granddaughter Savannah Schott. Mrs. Schwanholt was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church at Dewberry where she was active in the Ladies Aid and the Lutheran Womens Missionary League. She retired from the Dillsboro Manor in 1984 and was a homemaker. Funeral services will be held Tuesday January 28 at 11am at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Dewberry with Pastor Donald Sauls officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Calling will be Monday January 27 from 4pm to 7pm at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles. Memorials may be given to St. Paul's Cemetery or the Lutheran Women's Missionary League Scholarship Fund.
