Jacob I. Waldon, 94, of Columbus, Ohio, formerly of Cincinnati, passed away Friday, September 11, 2009 at the Kobacker House in Columbus. He was born near Elrod on May 30, 1915 the son of Benjamin and Lora Benham Waldon. He was married to Margaret Hodge of Holton in May of 1939 and she preceded him in death on August 30, 1994. Survivors include one son Jacob D. (Laurie) Waldon of Columbus, Ohio; one daughter Myrna (Robert) Beehler of Bakersfield, California; three grandchildren, Matthew Beehler and his fiancé Audrey Miller of St. Helena, California, Kelly Waldon and her fiancé Adam Calvelage of Columbus, Ohio, and Kara Waldon also of Columbus. He was also preceded in death by his parents and his sisters Garnet Hunger and Opal Polston. Mr. Waldon was a 1932 graduate of Versailles High School. He was also a graduate of Southern College in Collegedale, Tennessee and received his Master's Degree from Andrews University in Berrien Springs, Michigan. He was an Army veteran of WWII where he participated in the Normandy Invasion. Mr. Waldon retired from Ford Motor Company in Cincinnati where he worked as a sales engineer and was a member of the Village Seventh Day Adventist Church in Cincinnati. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 19 at 1pm at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Paul St. Villiers officiating. Burial will be in the Washington Cemetery at Elrod. Visitation will be Saturday from 12pm until time of services. Memorials may be given to the Village Seventh Day Adventist Church or the Washington Cemetery in care of the funeral home.
