James L. Arney, 67, of Versailles
passed away Monday, January 20, 2014 at the Kings Daughters Hospital in Madison. He was born in Cincinnati on September 9, 1946 the son of Burgess and Marie Gentile Arney. He was married to Melody Geisler on April 17, 1971 and she preceded him in death on January 7, 2011. Survivors include three sons Steve (Cassandra) Arney of Versailles, Bill (Susan) Arney of Austin, Texas, and Rodney (Dorothy) Arney of Versailles; 7 grandchildren; one brother Frank Arney of Versailles; two sisters Charlotte Griffin of Edgewood, Kentucky and Marcia (Raymond) Steele of Tennessee. He was also preceded in death by his parents. Mr. Arney was a 1964 graduate of Versailles High School. He was a farmer and along with his father and brother operated the Versailles Dunbrik Company. Jim was a member of the Versailles American Legion. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 23rd at 10:30am at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Rev. Mike Dixon of the Tyson United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in the Grandview Memorial Garden near Madison with military graveside rites by the Versailles American Legion. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 5pm to 8pm. Memorials may be given to the Versailles American Legion or Tyson United Methodist Church in care of the funeral home.
