James Wm. Buchanan,
83, of St. Cloud, Florida passed away
Wednesday January 8 at the Orlando Regional Hospital in
St. Cloud. Mr. Buchanan was born near Benham
on August 9, 1919, the son of Benjamin and Sarah Benefiel Buchanan. He was
married to Laura Johnson on June 24, 1941, and she survives. Other survivors
include two sons; Carl Buchanan of St. Cloud, and James Jr. of Lincoln Park,
Michigan; eight grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; one brother Wilkie
Buchanan of
Cincinnati; two sisters;
Martha Browning and Naomi Peaslee both of Versailles. He was preceded in death
by his parents, his brothers Emmett and Kenneth, and his sister Faye
Ramsey.
Mr. Buchanan was retired from
Great Lakes Steel in River Rouge, Michigan. He was an army veteran of WWII and a
member of the First Baptist Church in St. Cloud. Funeral services will be held
Tuesday January 14
at 2pm at the Stratton- Karsteter Funeral Home
in Versailles, with Rev. Carl Martin of the Benham United Methodist Church
officiating.
Calling will be from 12pm
until time of the services. Burial will be in the Benham Cemetery. Memorials
may be given to the cemetery.
