James G. Gross, 72, of Versailles passed away Tuesday, October 19, 2010 at his home. He was born at Carrollton, Kentucky on July 22, 1938 the son of Oscar and Edna Wingham Gross. He was married to Patsy Hamilton on September 26, 1959 and she survives. Other survivors include two sons Marty (Tammy) Gross of Versailles and Jonathan Gross of San Diego, California; one daughter Lori Beverly of Chattanooga, Tennessee; 2 grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren; two brothers Winston (Kay) Gross of Madison and Joe Gross of Louisville. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Tom. Mr. Gross was a 1956 graduate of Central High School in Madison. He owned and operated Gross Oil Company in Versailles for 29 years. He had also been employed with the Pearl Packing Company in Madison and Butternut Bread in Versailles. Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 21 at 1pm at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home with Bro. Dale Canull officiating. Burial will be in the Grandview Memorial Garden at Madison. Visitation will be Thursday from 11am until time of services. Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society or the Diabetes Foundation in care of the funeral home.
