James Sewell Moore, 65, of Madison passed away Wednesday, October 5, 2011 at the Kings Daughters Hospital in Madison. He was born at Hollandsville in Wolfe County, Kentucky on November 28, 1945 the son of Frank and Laura Watkins Moore. He was married to Nancy Waltz on December 7, 1979 and she survives. Other survivors include one son James S. (Jessica) Moore II of Holton; one daughter Penny (Adam) Fisher of Naples, Florida; two granddaughters Destiny and Desiree Moore; two brothers Bill Moore of Holton and George Moore of North Vernon; one sister Phyllis Hardy of Seymour. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Robert, Johnny, Elmer, and Raymond Moore and his sisters Sara Ann Sharp, Frances Holland, Bertha Moore, and Emma Cunningham. Mr. Moore was a former resident of Holton and had been employed with the Ripley County Highway Department, the Indiana State Highway Department, and Laughery Valley Co-op in Versailles. He was a former member of the Holton Fire Department.
Funeral services will be held Monday, October 10 at 10:30am at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with visitation on Sunday from 4pm to 7pm. Burial will be in the Grandview Memorial Garden in Madison. Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society or the Holton Fire Department in care of the funeral home.
