James V. Oney

James V. Oney, 59, of Versailles passed away Friday, May 20, 2011 at the Kings Daughters Hospital in Madison. He was born at McRoberts in Magoffin County, Kentucky on April 23, 1952 the son of John and Fonsby McCarty Oney. He was married to Sandra Westerman on March 18, 1972 and she survives. Other survivors include one son James David (Glenda) Oney of Versailles; one daughter Jamie (David) Magargel of Greensburg; 5 grandchildren; two sisters Dean (Milidean) McCarty of Salyersville, Kentucky and Letitia (Bob) Lee of Madison; four brothers Ronald Dale Oney of Osgood, Emmett (Pat) Oney of Versailles, David (Pam) Oney of Bloomington, and Raymond (Cathy) Oney of Fairfield, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother J. B. Oney, and his sisters Rebecca Johnson, Eunice Oney, Inez Herd, Joy Oney, and Bernice Dueroski. Mr. Oney was a truck driver for Elrod Grain and also Demaree Trucking. He was a member of the Cedar Creek Community Church. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 25 at 11am at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Rev. Garland Rudd officiating. Burial will be in the New Marion Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5pm to 8pm. Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society or the New Marion Cemetery in care of the funeral home.
