Jean Fugate, 74, of Osgood passed away Tuesday, December 14, 2010 at the Dearborn County Hospital. She was born at Brooksburg on February 20, 1936 the daughter of Glenford and Jeanette Clemens Nisonger Imel. She was married to Herbert Fugate on March 20, 1964 and he preceded her in death on September 5, 2003. Survivors include two sons Thomas (Betty) Stroud of Fulton and Steven Stroud and friend Regina Caldwell of Osgood; two daughters Deborah Stroud of Osgood and Brenda (William) Messer of Osgood; 11 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren; three sisters Phyllis (Jim) Stratham of El Paso, Texas, Linda (Wendell) Perry and Carol (Donald) Himes both of Hommossa, Florida; one brother Ernie (Paulette) Yocum of Youngstown, Ohio and several nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her parents, her sister Janice Mack, and her brother Carrol Imel.
Mrs. Fugate was a former employee of US Shoe in Osgood and along with her husband had operated VJ Trucking. She and her son Steven had also operated S & J Tropical Variety Store in Pierceville. She dedicated her life to helping others including running non-profit bingos for charity including Rescue 69 and CB Helping Hands in Milan of which she was a member.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2pm at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Pastor Charles Miller officiating. Burial will be in the Grandview Memorial Garden at Madison. Visitation will be Friday from 5pm to 8pm. Memorials may be given to the Fishes and Loaves Food Pantry in care of the funeral home.
