Joann R. Martin

Joann R. Martin, 75, of Versailles passed away Thursday, October 30, 2008 at the Kings Daughters Hospital in Madison. She was born in Cincinnati on April 25, 1933 the daughter of Robert and Ann Hall. She was married to Orville Martin on January 11, 1963 and he preceded her in death on May 2, 2004. Survivors include four sons, David (Natasha) Martin of Versailles, Robert (Nancy) Martin of Madison, Ricky Simone of North Vernon, and Mike Simone of Houston, Texas; one daughter Sharon Wingfield of Humble, Texas; one step-son Gary (Kathy) Martin of Milton, Kentucky; one step-daughter Jeanie Martin Stroobandt of Lawrenceburg; 13 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents, her son Russell, and 2 grandsons. Mrs. Martin was a former employee of South Ripley High School where she worked as a cook. She was also a homemaker. Funeral services will be held Monday, November 3 at 10:30am at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Dale Day officiating. Burial will be in the Grandview Memorial Garden at Madison. Visitation will be Sunday from 5pm to 7pm. Memorials may be given to the donor's choice.
