Juanita Rector

Juanita Rector, 85, of Lafayette passed away Tuesday, April 14, 2009 at her home. She was born in Indianapolis on May 7, 1923, the daughter of John and Esta Stevenson Walker. She was married to Earl Rector on June 7, 1942, and he preceded her in death on May 29, 1990. Survivors include one son, Robert Rector, and one daughter, Jean Wichterman, both of Lafayette; 5 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter Sherrill Williams, and her brothers Samuel, John Mark, and Lloyd Walker. Mrs. Rector was a former resident of New Castle and worked at the Dana Corporation in Hagerstown. After retiring in 1980, she moved to Versailles and lived there until 1990 when she moved to Lafayette. She was a member of the Cornerstone Baptist Church in Lafayette. Funeral services will be held Friday at 1pm at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles. Burial will be in the Cliff Hill Cemetery at Versailles. Visitation will be Friday from 11am until the time of services. Memorials may be given to the Alzheimer's Association or the Dabney Baptist Church in care of the funeral home. There will be a memorial service for Juanita at 2pm Saturday at the Cornerstone Baptist Church in Lafayette.
