Judith S. Eaton, 67, of Versailles passed away Tuesday, October 21, 2008 at the Hospice of St. Vincent's in Indianapolis. She was born at Anderson on February 3, 1941 the daughter of Russell and Mary Phelps Shoemaker. She was married to Larry Eaton on June 1, 1963 and he survives. Other survivors include one son Nicholas (Stacey) Eaton of Carmel; one daughter Kristin (Paul, Jr.) Fasbinder of Vernon Hills, Illinois; four grandchildren, Ryan and Kyle Fasbinder and Ally and Seth Eaton; one brother William Shoemaker of Anderson; her mother-in-law Mrs. Thelma Eaton of Napoleon. Mrs. Eaton was a 1959 graduate of Anderson High School. She received her BA degree in English from Butler University in 1963 and her Master's degree from Indiana University in 1965. She taught school at Howe High School in Indianapolis, Sunman, East Central, and finished her teaching career retiring from Jac-Cen-Del High School. She was an accomplished water color artist and had shown her work in many art shows throughout the Midwest and had been named Color Artist of the year. She had also served as a director for the local Community Theatre. Mrs. Eaton was a member of St. Peter's United Church of Christ at Finks Corner, a member of the Versailles-Osgood Associate Chapter of Tri-Kappa, signature member of the Water Color Society of Indiana, Kappa Delta Sorority of IU, and the Southeastern Indiana Art Society. Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 25 at 11am at St. Peter's United Church of Christ at Finks Corner with Rev. Karyl Leslie officiating. Visitation will be Friday from 4pm to 8pm at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles and from 10am until time of services Saturday at the church. Memorials may be made to the Jac-Cen-Del Scholarship Fund, the church building fund, or the National Kidney Foundation in care of the funeral home.
