Kenneth Lovins, 78, of Versailles passed away Friday, December 25, 2009 at the Kings Daughters Hospital in Madison. He was born at Tribby in Perry County, Kentucky on September 21, 1931 the son of Henry and Sally Haddix Lovins. He was married to Agnes Steele on May 21, 1960 and she preceded him in death on July 5, 2008. Survivors include one son Steven Lovins of Pigeon Forge, Tennessee; four daughters Theresa (Ron) May of Versailles, Tina Lovins of St. Cloud, Florida, Theresa Lovins of Wake Forest, North Carolina, and Cathy Sanders of Wendall, North Carolina; 2 grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren, and one great-grandson; one brother Jim (Malena) Lovins of Milan; six sisters Harriet (Howard) Cleeter of Lawrenceburg, Jean (Gilbert) Wilson of New Marion, Juanita Yeomans of Versailles, Martha Smith of Ingalls, Geneva (Gary) Napier of Madison, and Dottie (Bobby) Wood of Versailles. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Charles and John Lovins, and his sister Jeanette. Mr. Lovins was a member of the Cedar Creek Community Church, the Osgood Masonic Lodge, and the Heartland Classic Car Club. He served as Ripley County Sheriff from 1978 to 1986. He had also served as a Deputy Sheriff and as Versailles Town Marshall. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December at 11am at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Rev. Garland Rudd and Pastor Tom Holt officiating. Burial will be in the New Marion Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 5pm to 8pm with the Osgood Masonic Lodge conducting services at 8pm. Memorials may be given to the Osgood Masonic Lodge, the New Marion Cemetery, or the Cedar Creek Church in care of the funeral home.
