Kenneth W. Myers

June 27, 1945 — March 19, 2017

Kenneth W. Myers, 71, of Versailles passed away at 3:45pm Sunday, March 19, 2017 at the Norton Hospital in Louisville. He was born at Milan on June 27, 1945 the son of Russell and Wilma Israel Myers. He was married to Barbara Snedaker on September 24, 1965 and she survives. Other survivors include one son Brian (BJ) Myers of Versailles; one daughter Courtney (Mike) Hughes of Osgood; five granddaughters Megan and Katie Myers, and Dillan, Reagan, and Delaney Hughes; four brothers Norman (Barbara) Myers of Rexville, Danny (Brenda) Myers of New Marion, Marvin (Janet) Myers of Versailles, and Russell, Jr. (Linda) Myers of Dillsboro; one sister Mary (Tom) Allen of Edwardsburg, Michigan. He was preceded in death by his parents. Mr. Myers was a 1963 graduate of New Marion High School. He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War where served in the 7 Infantry of the 8 Army. For service to his country Kenny received the National Defense Service Medal, the AFEM Korean Medal, and the Good Conduct Medal. In civilian life Kenny was a former employee of Cummins Engine in Columbus, Bonn Aluminum in Greensburg, and retired as a superintendent with Ohio Rod in Versailles where he had been employed for 37 years. Kenny also had attended the Indiana Barber College and had been employed as a barber with the Clifty Barber Shop in Madison. His favorite occupation though was that of being a farmer. Kenny was a long time member of the Shelby Christian Church where he served in several capacities. Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 22 from 5pm to 8pm at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles. Funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family with burial in the Shelby Cemetery and military graveside rites by the Versailles American Legion. Memorials may be given to the Donn Snedaker Memorial Scholarship Fund or the Shelby Cemetery in care of the funeral home.
