Larry G. Nolte, 64, of Holton passed away Wednesday, May 4, 2011 at St. Francis Hospital in Beech Grove. He was born in Indianapolis on August 7, 1946 the son of Joseph and Jean Drew Nolte. He was married to Anita Hoban on October 28, 1994 and she survives. Other survivors include his father Joseph Nolte of Lawrenceburg; one son Dennis Wells of Greensburg; three daughters Natalie Nolte of Newport, Kentucky, Audrey (Adam) Harris of McLean, Virginia, and Jennifer (Chad) Ford of Georgetown, Texas; grandchildren Lane Wells, Aubrey and Remington Ford, A.J. and Anderson Harris, and Temperance Peters; three sisters Shirley Blair and Dee (Marvin) Wallace both of Greensburg and Sandy (Karl) Siebe of Indianapolis. He was preceded in death by his mother. Larry was a 1964 graduate of Colerain High School in Cincinnati and received his BS degree in US History and an Associate Degree in transportation management from the University of Cincinnati. He was a former fleet manager for Pepsi of Cincinnati and had worked as a jailer for the Ripley County Sheriff's Department. Larry was a Marine veteran of the Vietnam War where he served two tours with the Force Recon First Marine Division, rising to the rank of Sergeant. He received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Meritorious Mast, Vietnam Campaign Medal, and the Good Conduct Medal. Funeral services will be held Monday, May 9 at 10:30am at the Hopewell Baptist Church with Rev. David Shivers officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with military graveside rites by the Versailles American Legion of which he was a member. Visitation will be Sunday from 4pm to 8pm at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles and from 9:30am Monday until time of services at the church. Memorials may be given to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society or the Hopewell Baptist Church in care of the funeral home.
